Risso’s Dolphins & the Isle of Man
Look out for footage of Risso’s Dolphins this evening on BBC 1’s The One Show. This was filmed in June around the Isle of Man and Risso’s Dolphin is one of the species we’ll be looking for during our new Marine-life of the Isle of Man break in July 2010. Risso’s Dolphins are one of the cetacean species most regularly seen around the Isle of Man.
Basking Shark seen in November off the Isle of Man
A Basking Shark was seen swimming off the Isle of Man at Kione-Ny-Halby on 8th November. This sighting, recorded by the Manx Basking Shark Watch, is incredibly unusual – most Basking Sharks have left Manx waters by the end of August! 2009 was a bumper year for Basking Shark sightings off the Isle of Man and we’re hoping they’ll be back in similar numbers next year during our July trip to the island!
